NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR MUSEUMS AND MONUMENTS

The National Commission for Museums and Monuments is a federal agency of Nigeria which operates several museums and historic sites in Nigeria. Since 2020 its director has been Abba Isa Tijani. The National Commission for Museums and Monuments was established by Decree No. 77 of 1979 (now Act of Parliament, CAP 242, 2000) to replace the former Antiquities Commission. The NCMM has 52 national museums across the country and we have the mandate of collecting (acquiring) and documenting our cultural heritage across the country, with a view to displaying it for Nigerians and people from outside to see and appreciate.
