Post Office In Igbo-Ukwu

IGBO-UKWU POST OFFICE – 1985

The Igbo-Ukwu Post Office is located at the edge of the Nkwo Igbo-Ukwu triangle. The land was acquired through the efforts of the Igbo-Ukwu Development Union (IDU). Lack of fund to commence and execute the project delayed the commencement of work on it. The project was estimated to engulf the sum of N60,000.00. However, during the occasion of the launching of the 2.5-million-naira development fund, which held on the 26^th day of December 1985, Chief Eric Nwobi pledged to singlehandedly undertake the project. The post office project was promptly commenced and completed through the philanthropic gesture of Chief Eric Nwobi, the Okeide of Igbo-Ukwu. It was completed and handed over to the community in 1986.
